What data is being collected?
The data we collect is broken down into three categories:
People who visit our site are tracked through cookies with Google Analytics, this enables us to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. We do this to find out useful general information, like the number of visitors and where they go on our site. This information is processed in a way that does not identify anyone. We do not make, and do not allow Google to make, any attempt to find out the identities of visitors to our website.
We use Facebook tracking data for similar purposes – it allows us to track and improve the efficacy of our Facebook marketing efforts, we can’t (and don’t) target people specifically, but we do show adverts to groups of people who have visited our site.
If you sign up to our mailing list (to receive our newsletter), we collect a little more personal information. We use that information for one reason – to keep you in the loop of what we’re up to – in terms of new offers, news and other info that you might be interested in – we’re a candy business, not a spam business! We’ll also sometimes contact you via email to ask for feedback. We don’t rent or trade email lists with other companies – if we want to feature someone else’s business, we’ll pop it in our newsletter.
Subscriber Sign Ups
When you sign up to Taffy Mail, we also collect card details and your address. This allows us to take payment and ship your Taffy Mail to your house or workplace, and we use your email address to let you know when we dispatch. We also use email addresses with this data to ascertain statistics on average subscription duration, and other useful insights into how we’re doing, alongside necessary administrative tasks, such as arranging postage labels.
Payment data is stored through Moonclerk and Stripe, Stripe is the industry-leading payment provider and Moonclerk is a dashboard to allow Stripe to manage subscription payments. (Their policies can be viewed here and here).
